Internet Sourcing Guru Shally Steckerl
Today, I want to take a moment to honor the Internet sourcing expertise of Shally Steckerl. He is the Founder of The Sourcing Institute Foundation. It provides educational grants to people with disabilities and Military Veterans, and to those who are unemployed or underemployed, so they may obtain productive employment in the talent sourcing and recruiting profession.
Sourcing Guru Beginnings
More than a decade ago, I learned through a client at Intel that Shally was busy reinventing Internet sourcing as we know it at Cisco.
Reinvention = Innovation.
Since then, Shally has gone on to conduct recruiting research and to source candidates for Google, for Microsoft, and now for the World. I witnessed Shally criss-cross the country training others to do the kind of sourcing that he does so well.
Tracking Candidate Sourcing Changes
One of the things that impress me the most about Shally is that he tracks incremental changes in sourcing tools and techniques to stay on the leading edge of Internet sourcing. He also cultivates friends along the way and I have found him to be incredibly loyal to his colleagues — when the world doesn’t always work that way.
He has gone on to author the industry textbook The Talent Sourcing and Recruitment Handbook, which we have added to our corporate library at Intellerati. It is a great Internet sourcing primer for corporate executive search and recruiting research teams.
